Working in sales in a variety of industries, Devin found his niche as a salesman in the shipping industry in 1985. He joined Universal Cargo in 1991 as a salesman. In 2000, when the owner at the time decided to retire, Devin bought the company. Since that time, the company has grown from a small staff of 6 to the current staff of 30+ with offices in Los Angeles, Atlanta, and Virginia.
A native Southern Californian, Devin was raised in a bohemian household, dropped out of high school, and never graduated college. Lacking a formal education, Devin learned about sales and business from reading books and attending seminars.
A major turning point in his life was when he became a born again Christian in 1979. He met his wife Shirley in 1981, and they had four sons. After the boys became adults, Shirley joined Devin in managing Universal Cargo.
